Life Examples
Family Camp
As a Finance major at Mays, the norm is to get internships and develop your professional knowledge during your summers as a student. This goes toward what I believe is the main goal of college, to develop knowledge and relationships that will help you in your career. I found a different and more enjoyable route however. I decided to work at a family camp during my summers. Through this, I have been able to create many relationships with older successful men who have provided me with insight into the professional world, and in some cases opportunities for employment after graduation.

Sharing My Faith
Within the last two years I have started following the Lord. One major part of desiring to be like Christ is setting a good example for others so that they can look to you when they need help in life. I was involved in a fraternity already when I made my faith known, and as most people know the greek world can be a very dark and lost place. I decided that this would be my opportunity to step up, change as a man, and be the example that my fraternity brothers could look to. Through evident change in my life and me being bold about what I believe I have been presented with many opportunities to tell my brothers about what I believe without feeling like I am forcing my faith upon them. This is an opportunity that to me means much more than just daily successes. |
COSGA
Junior year in college I was selected to be a host for the Conference on Student Government Associations (COSGA). This position was not one of extensive responsibility, however it did mean that I was responsible for interacting with delegates who were from a wide variety of universities. I have always been interested in learning about other schools, so this was a great situation for me to sit down and talk with the delegates and learn about them and the schools that they were from. I took every chance I had to be a round table conductor, which meant that I would be sitting with 6 delegates and talking about their student governments. It was a great opportunity where I was able to learn about leadership, conducting conversation, and lifestyles other than my own.
