Life Examples
Scouts
Through out most of my growing up I was involved in Boy Scouts. I served on many high up leadership positions within my troop until I eventually received my Eagle Scout award. Working with teenage boys from the age of 12 to 18 is not exactly an easy task. What was even more difficult was trying to get the age gap to not be a problem. However, my leadership teams and I were able to effectively lead those that voted us into our positions by keeping sound minds and working together.

Being Old In A Fraternity
Being an older member in a fraternity is a difficult situation. I have held leadership positions before, and understand the way that the fraternity works. I am at a point though, where I can no longer hold those positions, it is time to pass the torch down to the younger members. This creates difficulty and friction, because I would like to voice my opinion and advice, but do not want to step on anyone in charge's toes. I have realized though that just being an older and wiser member is a leadership position in itself. The younger men who are now in leadership positions look to me for guidance on difficult situations, and the even younger members who are not in positions look to me for an example of how I compose myself at meetings. I am able to advise other brothers without having a title, and have learned a great deal about what it means to be a true team player. |
Ticket Pull
My senior year football season was an important one to me. It was the last time as a student that I would be able to watch my Aggies play and to truly be a part of the Kyle Field experience. That being said, I always wanted to make sure we had the best seats available. I would always take charge of the group, organize the guys, and get up early monday morning to make sure that we got good tickets. This was my responsibility within my friend group.
